Father Daughter Dinner Dance 2012 Highlights

Silver Spring, MD.  Friday, December 7, 2012.  The Brothers of Mu Nu Chapter in Montgomery County, Maryland executed our third Fatherhood Initiative Program for 2012 by partnering with Ivy Vine Charities, Inc.  Our previous two Fatherhood Initiative Programs, the Game Changers Impact Conference and the Fathers and Sons Day, set the standard of what we wanted to accomplish.  Although the other programs were geared towards Father's and Son's, this program was specifically targeting Father's and Daughter's.  Our goal was to showcase their relationship and build everlasting memories.

“On this night, a father can be the birth father, grandfather, great grandfather, godfather, uncle, big brother (18 years or older) or any special male friend of the family who has a positive impact on the girl. Every girl deserves to have a special evening with her father or the father figure in her life. The event not only celebrates bonding between fathers and daughters, but helps to create a memorable event in the lives of young ladies as they embark on their journey into adulthood,” said Alean Miller, Chairwoman of this year’s event.

Omega Men from Mu Nu Chapter, other Chapters, their daughters, and guests were responsible for over 80 tickets of the roughly 220 tickets for this sold out event.  Proceeds from the Father Daughter Dinner Dance benefit college scholarships and community service programs.

The night began with a welcome from the President of Ivy Vine Charities, Inc., Ms. Cynthia Jiles and Bro. David Hill, Basileus of Mu Nu Chapter.  Both of them expressed the importance of fatherhood in the life of a young daughter.  Two surprise guests then greeted the girls: Ms. Tri – State Area Queen 2012 and Ms. Ivy Vine Cotillion 2012.  After hearing the uplifting words from all, it was time to crown each daughter a princess for the ‘Parade of Princesses.’  The rest of the evening was comprised of a formal dinner and dancing the night away between father and daughter.

For 2013, Ivy Vine Charities, Inc. and Mu Nu Chapter look to build upon the success of the past year in an effort to provide another opportunity to highlight fathers and daughters.  The men of Mu Nu Chapter take great pride in promoting  responsible Fatherhood to other fathers and father figures.  We are honored to showcase positive relationship with our daughters and sons in building everlasting memories.
