MEMORIAL DAY

March 12th of each year has been established as Memorial  Day.  Chapters are expected to conduct an    appropriate service to recall the memory of those members who have entered into Omega Chapter.

A feature of the Thirteenth Grand Conclave in 1924 was the Charles Young Memorial Services.  These were held at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier.  The Fraternity’s wreath was placed at the Tomb by the Grand Basileus.

Thereafter, by order of the Grand Conclave, Frank Coleman, West Hamilton and A.C. Newman were appointed the Young Monument Committee to plan the erection of an appropriate permanent memorial to Charles Young at the Arlington    National Cemetery. [The Young Monument was dedicated November 11, 1926, with Col. John Axton (USA Chief of the Chaplain’s Corps), Frank Coleman, Walter Mazyck, Major O.J. W. Scott (who served with Young), Harry E. Davis of the Ohio Legislature and the Howard University ROTC band participating.]”
